The European Federation of City Napoleonic
This heritage deserves to be better known, better appreciated, better shared and better viewing. From this observation, we wanted to create a Federation of European Cities of Napoleonic history.
In the action of this great man [Napoleon] are the values of the Revolution [French], the Century of Lights [of social openness], the ideals of freedom, equality and fraternity that unite us. Valuing the historical sites, to encourage historical research, promote our museums and culture alive, to open ourselves to the citizens of our countries and Europe, along the paths means complicated, contradictory and sometimes antagonistic through which these ideals have been imposed in Europe .
The dozens of European cities gathered in this association wish to contribute to the promotion of its image, reviving an important page in their history and discover how the past is in their common interest. Because the Napoleonic period has enabled Europe to become aware of itself - is by joining the opposition as through the action of the little Corsican [Napoleon] - and to take public institutions inspired by the philosophy of Lights [openings social].
Our countries, our Europe, need to increase awareness of their roots in order to increase confidence in their ability to meet the great challenges of their time.
